Company offers registration for all country codes

OUT-LAW News, 19/10/2000

NetNames is claiming to be the first domain name registrar to let individuals and businesses wanting to protect their names globally check and register in all of the world’s country-code top level domains.

“NetNames has developed a groundbreaking system, which is the most advanced online domain name management tool available anywhere,” said Tom Barrett, CEO of NetNames. “A company's domain name is its internet brand and as more top level domains come onto the market, it will be more important than ever for companies to protect themselves from cybersquatters.”

However, the service is not cheap. The company charges a fee of $149 for each name registered, in addition to a $50 management fee for each name registered and any fees of national internet organisations. To register one name in its “global high risk” group costs around $40,000.
