Entertainment Network has lost a case in which it fought for the
right to webcast the execution of Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh.
The company claimed to be surprised by the verdict and plans to
lodge an appeal.
David Marshlack, Chief Executive of Entertainment Network
said:
“We are quite surprised the Judge Tinder has
rejected our case. We are planning to file a notice of appeal on
Friday either to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals or directly
to the United States Supreme Court. We can't comment further until
we've read and evaluated the judge's opinion.”
ENI had argued in its hearing before the US District Court for
the Southern District of Indiana that the US Bureau of Prison was
acting unconstitutionally in barring it from sending a live signal
of the execution over the internet. McVeigh is scheduled to be
executed on May 16th.
