Adobe settles software dispute with Trio Systems

OUT-LAW News, 21/12/2001

Adobe Systems yesterday announced that it has settled its copyright dispute with Trio Systems. Earlier this week, Trio Systems won a court order which required Adobe to remove from the marketplace all unsold copies of its InDesign software.

The settlement resolves Trio's claims that the software breached the terms of a licence between the companies and Adobe's counter-claims of fraud and copyright misuse. Adobe will continue to include the disputed Trio software in its own products but any sum paid to Trio by Adobe remained confidential. The court order will be dissolved.

Adobe said in a statement that it is “very pleased with the result, and expects no material impact from it to the Company's financial results.” Adobe’s senior lawyer said: “This is a situation that never belonged in court. We are pleased that we were able to resolve it on a more informal basis.”
