Critical security flaw in Microsoft chat software

OUT-LAW News, 09/05/2002

Microsoft has issued a security bulletin for users of MSN Chat, its popular internet messaging software. It urgently calls on users to upgrade their software because an existing flaw could allow a hacker to take control of the user’s computer.

The company has given the problem its “maximum severity rating.” It says it would be possible for an attacker to exploit the vulnerability either through a malicious web site or through HTML e-mail.
