OUT-LAW News, 13/08/2002

Approximately 1,800 consumers have had their personal information exposed on ukshops.co.uk, a shopping portal that links to the web sites of high street stores, according to a report by news site Silicon.com.

Silicon found that a list of registered users and their details, which included their names, e-mail and home addresses and age group, has been published on an extension of the ukshops.co.uk site.

According to the report, the company named on the web site as responsible for ukshops.co.uk is unlisted and could not be contacted. Silicon has notified the Office of the Information Commissioner which has said it is planning to track down the company.
