Games fanatic insures fingers for £375,000

OUT-LAW News, 29/10/2002

Alex Nikitin from London has insured his fingers for £375,000, ahead of the World Cyber Games, which are being held in Korea this week, according to news sites Ananova and VNUNet. The 17-year old games fanatic believes that missing a game because of injury would cost him a lot of money.

Nikitin said he realised the importance of his fingers as his key assets after he qualified for the Games. He claims that protecting his fingers is essential, since missing a game would result in loss of prize money. Also, an injury could make him miss out on places for future tournaments causing further loss of potential earnings.

It is reported that the world's top gamers can earn as much as £200,000 a year.
