Fred Durst sues over sex video hack

OUT-LAW News, 09/03/2005

The lead singer of nu-metal band Limp Bizkit has filed a copyright infringement suit against the operators of 10 web sites that posted clips of a raunchy home video that was allegedly hacked from his home computer, according to reports.

The homemade pornographic video has been circulating on-line since first being posted in late-February.

The lawsuit, filed last week in a Los Angeles district court, names various web sites and ISPs, including Gawker Media, Everyone's Internet, Peer1 Network and Verio. It seeks a temporary restraining order and damages of up to $80 million.

According to The Smoking Gun, the hack may have been carried out by the same people who somehow hacked the data on a T-Mobile Sidekick PDA/phone of hotel heiress Paris Hilton last month, and posted the contents on-line.
