Case study: Origo Services

A unique legal framework for electronic trading in financial services

Origo Services was set-up by leading life assurance companies to facilitate the development of electronic trading between principals and agents for Life, Pensions and Collective Investment business.

Pinsent Masons worked with Origo on a ground-breaking project for the financial services sector, which involved advising on and drafting a standard legal framework. The framework deals with the security and contractual issues surrounding the electronic transfer of data between financial services product providers and IFAs through third-party service providers or portals.

The Contract Enquiry Legal Framework was adopted in April 2004 and is now being implemented by the UK life assurance and pensions industry.

Rankine Agnew, e-Business Consultant at Origo Services, said of working with the team at Pinsent Masons:

"Masons' ability to combine sound technical knowledge with a thorough understanding of our market place is exceptional. Their professional, enthusiastic and thorough approach to work is refreshing, and continually increases our confidence in their ability. In addition, our business partners are impressed by Masons' contribution to the project which reflects well on Origo. They add value to our team."

Masons merged with Pinsents on 6th December 2004 to become Pinsent Masons.
