National conference on public sector web accessibility

OUT-LAW News, 22/05/2006

The Scottish Executive is supporting a conference on public sector web accessibility to educate public sector web professionals in the latest accessibility guidelines, including PAS 78 and the next version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Website Accessibility 2006, organised by accessibility specialists User Vision, web developers Parallel 56 and the legal team behind OUT-LAW.COM, aims to give guidance and the latest insight on best-practice in the field of web accessibility in the public sector.

Chris Rourke, Managing Director of User Vision, said: "Accessibility is a hot issue in the public sector, and with the new PAS 78 guidelines, and WCAG V2.0 on the horizon, plus the E-government take-up campaign, it is important that website professionals stay ahead of the game. This conference aims to do just that – to give specialist advice and guidance on the latest thinking whatever the level of understanding or experience the delegate has. It’s also a great opportunity to swap notes and ideas with peers, as well as a chance to get some free consultancy on your particular accessibility challenges."

The one-day event will also include speakers from RNIB, AbilityNet and the Scottish Executive.

The event takes place at The Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh, from 10am on Tuesday 13th June 2006.
