Peter
Bullock's biography
Peter is a Partner and specialises in advising the information,
technology and services industries on contentious and risk
management issues, which include intellectual property, legal
audits, data flows and data privacy, dispute avoidance and dispute
resolution, insurance, e-commerce and outsourcing.
He has acted in numerous disputes for hardware manufacturers,
suppliers of software systems, government bodies using IT systems
and in relation to outsourcing. In recent years, his practice has
involved a wide range of technology and contentious work, from IT
infrastructure procurements to e-commerce related projects and
heavy litigation. Peter is qualified to practise in both England
and Hong Kong.
Key relevant experience includes:
- Acting for a major hardware manufacturer on a US$35m investment
in a China telecoms entity (and related sales arrangements).
- Advising a Hong Kong utility company on a series of
multi-million US$ software systems developments concerning customer
call centre and billing system technology.
- Representing e-silkroad.net Holdings Limited in its claims for
Internet defamation and delivery up of IP addresses against an
Internet chat-room icered.com.
- Advising a manufacturer of ATMs on a number of projects
concerning software development and maintenance programmes relating
to ATMs in China.
- Responsible for the launch in Hong Kong of Pinsent Masons’
website legal service for start-ups in the e-commerce sector,
www.OUT-LAW.COM.
- Supervised enforcement of IP rights against infringers of IPRs
in relation to business software packages in Hong Kong and Mainland
China.
- Advising a major supplier of hardware and IS services to defend
a multi-million US$ claim relating to the delivery of a B2B
logistics platform.
- Advising on a number of technology outsourcings in Asia
Pacific.
- Advising a major UK drinks company on brand protection and
franchising issues in China.
Peter is also a member of the following: Society for Computers
and Law; Hong Kong Computer Society; the British Chamber of
Commerce IT Committee in Hong Kong; Hong Kong International
Arbitration Council E-commerce Sub-committee; HKIAC Panel of
Arbitrators to handle Hong Kong Name Disputes; ADNDRC Panel of
Arbitrators to handle gTLD disputes. He is also an independent
director of FDS Networks Group Limited, listed on the SGX-ST and
his publications include "China Intellectual Property Law
Guide" – Internet Chapter, a CCH publication. He lectures
widely on technology law and risk management.
