Louise Townsend's biography
Louise is a Senior Associate in the Outsourcing and Technology
Group. She advises on data protection issues, including
carrying out data protection compliance audits, advising on
overseas transfers, information security, website compliance and
marketing.
She provides training on data protection, holds the ISEB
qualification in data protection and is an accredited ISEB trainer.
Louise has also carried out training on the Isle of Man and
Guernsey data protection legislation and is co-author of a book on
data protection and pensions.
Louise also advises and provides training on freedom of
information and speaks regularly at seminars and workshops on this
subject. She has been involved in developing an e-learning training
product for freedom of information with Video Arts Ltd and in
providing comprehensive training materials for the Scottish
Executive on the Scottish legislation.
Key relevant experience includes:
- Preparing comprehensive freedom of information training
materials for the Scottish Executive.
- Advising on contract clauses for freedom of information and
data protection.
- Advice on handling freedom of information and data protection
requests and, in particular, on application of the exemptions.
- Carrying out a data protection compliance audit, providing
reports and recommendations for a large international
pharmaceutical company.
- Advising a large financial institution on the transfer of
personal data overseas.
- Carrying out data protection compliance audit, providing
reports, recommendations, guidance and documents for implementation
and training for the pensions department of a leading UK
construction company.
- Carrying out retainer work for an overseas data protection
regulatory authority.
- Providing a number of organisations with website compliance
advice including data protection notices and privacy statements and
advice on information security.
